So I'm trying to get in the habit of spinning once a week at minimum and think that Sunday afternoons will usually be good for that. This week though I will have company so I've been good and "worked ahead". I spun another 2-ounce ball of the Tourmaline pencil roving and plied the singles into this 2-ply yarn. I've got about 250 yards of sportweight (more or less) yarn. That puts me halfway through that batch of roving.
In preparation for Mme Purl's visit I've also got it in gear and created my felted ball from the kit I bought at the CT S&W festival. I'm hoping that between the two of us we can figure out how to do this plying off a ball thing. I've got a fair chunk of single left over from the black and silver roving I was spinning recently to test this out with.

I really like the way that pencil roving spins up and plies. Are you pre-drafting it at all, or just drafting as you go?
I haven't tried plying from a felt ball, but it looks like an interesting technique. Please let us know how it goes.
Yes, I'm also curious if it makes much difference to ply from the ball. I've been tempted to try but have been hesitant.
I'm just drafting as I go and only lightly at that.
I too will be very interested in the how plying off the ball works out
Beautiful! Be sure to post your plying results!
I had to go and google the technique as I hadn't heard of i, do let us know how you get on!
