I can't stop stroking this. I am boring on about it here. There is about 120 metres of it so not enough for a pair of socks yet but I had to ply some to see if I was on the right lines. I learnt much more about plying with this project as I wanted a firm twist for strength and stability for socks. Does anyone have any advice about spinning a good solid sock yarn?

Hi! I have really enjoyed reading your blog. I am not a spinner, but reading about other's spinning adventure is fun.
This yarn is beautiful, and I imagine it must be quite soft.
What lovely colors! Sock yarn is something I'm trying to learn to do myself as well so will be watching to see if you get any useful advice here.
Oh I do love the colour of that yarn. I have spun and dyes yarn to make stripey socks (see my blog April 15th)and the fleece I used was Ryeland which has so much elasticity , perfect for socks.
Anne, I just looked at your socks - they are incredible - one day... I am definitely putting Ryeland on my list for Woolfest. At this rate my travelling companions and I will be waist deep in fibre on the drive home!
It's interesting to see the difference in effect of mine which were dyed in the roving and yours dyed in the skein.
