I bought this BFL (Blue Faced Leicester) from Amy from Spunky Eclectic along with many others- called Triple Play batts. Each is made up of 3 colors and weighs less than 2 oz. This one was orange, bright raspberry pink and whitish pink. I had contemplated separating out the colors, but wanted to see what would happen if I divided it into 4 slivers and spun them end to end- 2 per bobbin. This is what I got. 170 yards of delicious sherbety barberpoled 2 ply yarn spun on an Ashford Traditional Wheel using a non-tensioned lazy kate.

That is very pretty - do you have any photos of or links to the batts before spinning? As a novice I'm just learning about the different presentations of roving and the variety of ways a spinner can treat them so I would be really interested to see.

So that's spun on your Ashford, huh? No Schacht yet? I swear I am almost as anxious as you are, waiting for that wheel to come in... ;-)
Anyway, nice job! 170 yds is enough for a small project... maybe a pair of mitts (or even mittens)?

The batts were prepared by Amy of Spunky Eclectic (www.spunkyeclectic.com) called Triple Play batts and are 3 layers of color. The one above was orange on the outside, bright pink on the inside with a whitish pink sandwiched in between and then rolled up to make a donut shape. Unfortunately I did not get a photo of it before I spun it up. I do, however, have more and will make sure I photograph the fiber before spinning it up.
